This is where the big time relationshipping comes in.
And when I say big time, I mean agenda-free interest in people who are doing things that are interesting -- and doing all of those things that our fast paced world seems to have forgotten.
Getting people to know like and trust you is what small business marketing is all about according to John Jansch, et al.
- Keeping in touch
- Taking a genuine interest in others
- Meeting our neighbors
- Appreciating the little things
- Giving first
- Letting people get to know us
- and so forth
Scott Ginsberg does nothing all day but think about ways people can become more approachable. He's got a schweet little ebook (actually he's got several) partially subtitled "37 Exercises to Help You be More Approachable" that may stir the 'ol creative juices.
My first experience in doing 'approachable' online was writing "My Story" as an exercise with Mentoring for Free back in 2005. And though that particular mentoring group is not a good match for me, I met some 'lasting friendship' type people there and to this day I continue to get ebook downloads and make good connections with the people who take the time to read it.
See, by the time they get to me (and I usually let them contact me first), they already have some 'know like and trust' built in. It's really pretty neat. I get to talk to people who want to talk to me -- really the only people we should be talking to, right?
'Cause what's the other option there ... ?
So the question is, what're you doing to become more approachable -- to let people get to know you, like you and trust you?
Lately, I'm writing this blog -- so how's it working so far?
Make it a great day!
