I can't say for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that if you're a parent, a Mom especially, there are WAY too many hats that are yours to wear.
I know it's true for me.
Finding ways to prioritize my life or even finding the time to do the prioritizing has been a hurdle at times. It really takes a quiet moment in time and self to get this going and those moments can be few and far between ...
Even when you really WANT to do stuff like this.
And let's face it, sometimes it's just easier to be "too busy" to stop and think about the changes that we have to make in order to get what we want, eh?
Yep, I know all about it.
In March I went back to school (all online, I highly recommend it). And one by-product of that has been a need to get clear on ways of covering all of the things that I've put on my plate.
The first thing I had to do was fess up to the fact that I was spending A LOT of time online. So scheduling for school turned out to be a piece of cake. Much of my computer time went to that.
But what about the rest of my time ... was I really getting the most out of it?
And what about my Big Rocks ... were they still going in first?
- Was I spending the time with my middle girl that she really needs?
- Was I getting the private time I want?
- Was I making daily progress on my business?
- Was I staying in touch with everyone I wanted to?
- Was I appreciating the people and things that I appreciate - out loud?
- Was I really clear on what my Big Rocks are??
An assignment in my orientation class made me really think hard about how I was spending my days.
And though I was encouraged to do this by Jackie Ulmer (in her case - putting family time into the schedule first) during my brief stint with Mia Bella, I'd never actually sat down and done it till this 'homework assignment'.
So for those of you, just like me, who need an assignment in order to get things completed, here it is:
Email me the following:
- a list of your "Big Rocks"
- This blank planner filled in with the times you want to spend doing your big rocks*
- then I'll send you mine if you want ;-)
Don't worry about fitting in all the things you feel are "have to's" just now ... first let's focus on our "perfect weeks". The "hows" are not our concern at this point ...
And for those tuned in 100% to LOA (not there yet myself), that would be never -- right?
Here's to getting your Big Rocks in first!

*Remember to print your schedule for yourself so that it's "in play" and you (and the Universe) can refer to it.
